I just bought a rod to start fishing...

Hi I just bought a rod with reel... Should I start with dry bread as bait?
What`s better, hobz tal malti or bezzun?
What hook sizes should I start with?
Is it true that with kulpari instead of hooks you catch more?
Or should I start with hniex?
I was going to start fishing at dragonara point, is it worth it?

If you bought a rod with reel, I suggest you start with bottom fishing. Find out how to do a Pater Noster. During the day fish with shrimps, white snails or Hniex tal-Korea, in the night use Hniex ta l-imperjal. There is some other fancy bait which you can use.
Forget kulpari, use size 10 hooks to start with. Don't know about dragonara point, try it and tell us!

i fish most of the time for bottom fish so here are my thoughts as ciappinu said forget kulpari and for now only use hooks between ten and seven.
leave the bread for now you will need to arrange a float and bla bla bla. if your stuck for rigs go to mr fish and you can buy the rigs ready made for 14 cents all you need to do is add the weight.( my biggest fish on them rigs is a 2 kilo marina so they can take some abuse)
i do tend to go for shrimps this time of year
hope we could help and welcome to the site its always nice to see a fresh name

Welcome to the forum and stick around, you will find a lot of help.
I will only add some points to the good advice already given
1 Read through the many posts on the forum ,these are a good source of info
2 Try different baits and locations this is how you gain experience but have patience and learn
3 Observe others fishing and try to speak to them some may be ready to talk and help

Hi guys,
thanks for the info.
Presently I`m sticking to bezzun, scrape it and wrap it with no 4 rigs, I cast , I`m not that lucky till now as I`ve caught a few "bobin" till now,it depends on the day, xi kultant ma jmissek xejn ,u xi kultant titfa u ttellgha. True?
PS. I`m going near Cavalieri Hotel area and I`ve seen some guys fighting with kahli with the bezzun system..
any ideas/ suggestions?

If you fish for mulett the best sites are inside the ports where the bottom is silt. Since you are new to the hobby I suggest that you experiment and be bolder. Try using hniex in remote locations outide the ports or maybe plan a night at Cirkewwa ( using hniex ta l-imperjal) ,if like myself you like to be more comfortable and park the car nearby.
