179 Marlin in one Day

Hi guys,
I?m new here but for me it?s very interesting how you think about the follow thing:

In Cabo San Lucas, a boat caught during a "release-tournament" 179 Marlin and one Sail. You can see the video under http://homepage.mac.com/thumbprintmemory/iMovieTheater6.html

Well, my problem is the kind of releasing all this marlin. Look carefully to the video. They cut the leader! The fish is released but has a hook in his jaw and some meters of the leader.

Well, I know there are a lot of causes for and against such a kind of tournament. For me, that?s definitely not my kind of fishing and I wouldn?t take part on such a tournament.

What do you think about?

Hi Uwe,

I remember seeing on a fishing program that modern hooks used in such events are designed to disintegrate completely after around 48hrs. When that happen the line also falls away. It's the best way of release a fish without causing it to get over stresed and die if they were to try and manually remove it.
