Spreader bars can either be run unrigged (no chase bait with hook) and used just as an attractor or otherwise you run one rigged chase bait at the end. Truth be told we've never hooked up a fish on a spreader bar that had a chase bait, so we use them just as attractors to create surface noise to raise the fish.

Bought from abroad, I don't like the metal based spreader bars, prefer the thick nylon like material. You can see them here www.fishmagciantackle.com . It's good to have maybe one 10 or 20 bait ball model as an attractor but overall I still prefer daisy chains and have caught plenty of fish on those.

yep daisy chains are better, less tangles. I have spreader bar straight type and umbrella type but i never ever use them toooooo much hassle. I prefer to keep things simple and quick. These attractors do work especially if the fish a keeping deep and not biting.

No Skip, I don't have a spreader bar.  Was thinking of making one myself, using a nylon 1/4" or 3/8" bar, before investing in one.  I can source the nylon bar locally...from Caruana in Marsa.  I am slightly reluctant to have a chase bait trailing behind the spread though...don't know why, maybe I'm a bit conservative...but will definitely try out a spreader bar this season
