hi rob  just stsarting.... I am at bugibba at the moment if u are from the north side we can meet and will explain exac tly what i did. See every motor his its own set up. i hooked a 200hp with a 25hp and it works wonderfully. there are other things that u have to consider when using the mechanism i will send u a PM to explain better..
DIY costs would run in the 15 euros.

Tony did you mount to the rear on the cav plate or at the front with your DIY setup?

shanook

front and it has to be a quick release set up as well...

Thanks guys, by browising around as seeing a few pics I think I got a decent idea of the options.  Just quick question - are there any restrictions on how to mount the auxiliary in relation to the main outboard?  At the moment a friend of mine has the aux mounted on a separate bracket, ie not flush to the main as in skip's pic in the previous email.  Can this be a problem when installing the connection bar?

just make some adjustment rob. make a plate to align as much as possible with the main engine they dont have to be perfectly aligned. The important thing is to make sure when u turn the wheel and both engines turn the bar does not foul up with anything but its free moving. GOOD luck

Shanook can you please send me some info regarding this system aswell. I've got a 90hp and 15hp and would really be a wonderful thing to make them steer both with the steering.
Would I need another steering cable or just a bar attacherd to the the other motor ? Can the big motor be out of the water ? The 15hp isn't attached directly to the boat's end but it's on another plate, is it a problem ?

Thanks

ok guys this is what u should do. First have a good look at ur engines both main and Aux. see if they have mounting hole (specifically made for twin setups). if both engines have it then see how they align. Is one higher than the other, is one set backwards than the other. Once u have established how both holes are related to each other than u either have to make adaptations or else its straight forward round bar. Measure the distance between holes and bend a round bar at both ends. One end will go inside the Main engine mounting hole and the other end into the aux engine mounting hole. try turning the steering wheel and check that the bar can be moved without touching anything.
If i didnt make myself clear please ask again or tell me which part was not clear and i will either post again or else make some drawings. Cannot take pictures at the moment but as soon as I go on visa boat i will take a couple of pics and post them.

do i get any royalties from this shannook , Guys the system works perfectily i would recomand it to anyone who has an aux engine, and uses it for trolling, if you only use it for emengency it will still be ok. photos will be available next week, so keep watch on this tread.  Prosit shnaook i thought we had it patened :'(

If anybody is interested, I have just inserted a photo into the "gallery" in the "boat photos" section, it shows how I did mine, I found that getting the connecting rod on the same "plane" as both engines was important, hence the angle iron bracket attached to the main engine cover.
