Hi everyone!

I'm Grei, 32 from Mosta, fishing was always my hobby since I was a kid and it's been on and off since I can remember, but now it seems that I'm really hooked, bis serjeta, going up and down to fekruna almost everyday, spending more money at mr fish than at supermarket but it's all worth it, it makes up for all the stress, qazba, bahar, ipod, xi trid iktar?  :D

Anyways, I've been going through this forum for quite some time and it's really great, tips and all that, links, posts and most af all, everyone is very helpful, so I decided to join  ;D

I just bought a really cheap rod and reel combo from ebay, it's good to begin with as I've always used the classic pole.  I'm gonna use it with a running float, mostly at night using Korea worms.  I don't really know the fishing terms so I will try to explain, the line is 25 and I have a 25g runnung float, what is best to do?  A 15g running sinker under the float and a fergha, attached to a swivvel with a 2 hook paternoster and a 5g sinker at the end, or just a 20g sinker at the end of the paternoster, or a 20g running sinker under the float and just a fergha attaced to a swivvel with just 1 hook?  For the fergha I'm using Trilene sensi thin ultra+ 18mm 5.8kg.  Which hooks should I use?  Will fluorescent beads help?

Dear all MFF members,

Hope this note finds you all well, my name is Chris (28), keen on the outdoors, photography and travelling! Currently residing at Balzan.
Been following this very informative forum on and off for a couple of months and thanks to you all I decided to start fishing again! (After a couple years)

Have very fond memories of fishing with my grandfather and my dad! And if I start practicing this lovely hobby again, i'm sure dad will tag along and it will be a great way to spend some quality time with him and relax!

I have always practiced catch and release, (keeping the single good sized bream for mum, since myself and dad don't eat fish).
Here in Malta I do not think we take this practice seriously enough. (Not generalizing guys!) Releasing the small sized fish is Very important for conservation and sustainability, but it is also important that we do not overfish. Sometimes we catch much more then what we need.

My fishing knowledge is very limited as I have done only shore fishing and I have never used a reel rod in my life! But i'm keen to learn new techniques like spinning!  :)
Anyways, lately got myself a new tackle box, some fishing line, barbless hooks, and a grauvel fishing rod.

In the summer months I spend a lot of time at sea on my Suzumar SIB, powered by a Suzuki 9.9 DF (4 stroke). Never used it for fishing but would like to learn how to troll.

Wishing you all a happy Christmas and a healthy 2010!!  :)

Cheers,
Chris
to CATCH is nice...but to RELEASE is nicer !

Hi guys. Have been posting recently but not yet introduced myself. My name is Kevin, 42 years, from Rabat but reside in Dingli. Graphic designer by profession. Have been fishing since I was a young boy because we have a summer residence St. Paul's Bay. Used to catch loads of fish at that time but now it's a different story. Used to go trolling a lot with my grandfather Salvinu who was the No.1 for amberjack (cervjola) in his time. For the past 7 years I have been trolling a lot with my father Tony in St. Paul's Bay and now on the lookout to buy my new boat after I sold my 13ft frejgatina at the end of summer.
