hi guys. since i bought the fish finder, i was reading the instructions manual to install the transducer.

however i have a query. the manual of the transducer says that the wire should be coated with a shielding material.

do i really need it? from where should i buy the shielding material. it is a through hull transducer, and will be installed in the engine bay. and i do have an engine in the engine bay

i am talking about the garmin 400c fish finder

10x in advance
regards, nich

If it's RF shielding due to possible interference from the engine's electrical systems I'm not sure what you would use off-hand. Something that has a foil/braid screen in it ideally but I've not come across any flexible pipe that you can slide over that meets those specs.

Speak to Medcomms or if they dont give you any help try Fabian Enterprises.

Otherwise it's physical cable protection to prevent chaffing etc and then you can use various things like a material braided jacket which slides over but again not sure who gets it.

I think the wire supplied is already shealded. I think it was refereing to that, not an additional one. Wise to check with medcomms to be safe.
Can't wait to go fishing
