hi guys

i was watching the specs of an okuma reel on ebay and one of them said "Multi-disk Japanese oiled felt drag washers "

What does it mean? Does anyone know where to find info on it? and also if possible the advantages and disadvantages of it ?

thanks guys

Ken

placebo

i think what you're mentioning is the Rulidium Drag System.

Such drag washers are meant to reduce heat and friction for a maximum performance.

the fishing gods might have something for me tomorrow I'll be fishing

You've got al cheapo plastic drag washers like Lineaeffe use, total waste of time.

Felt drag washers which are usually made out of some kind of material, fibre blend.

Carbon Fibre Drag washers where each manufacturer has their own name, HT100 from Penn, Carbontex etc.

Then drag washers can be either dry or greased.......I only like greased drag washers so long as they are done right and with something like Cal's drag grease.

A multi disk drag is a stack or drag washers usually quite small (maybe size of the old Lm1 coin) with metal washers in between and a breville washer stack as well. They are typical found on spinning reels and star drag reels.

OKUMA-1976

on high end reels okuma use felt drag washers and like placebo said they hold more with less heat transmitted to your reel and with less chance of loosing your catch.
as common drag systems tend to overheat during the fight leaving you without the drag functioning properly if the whole system gets jammed you'll most probably loose your catch.
okuma have a research & development team in Denmark,Germany,USA,Taiwan & Japan and they are always improving their products.

i'm sure that you'll find a large variety of okuma reels in the shops who represent them.;;

OKUMA-1976

hi ken82

okuma inspira was an old model in the European range.

in America they use different names for the reels they stock but i can see the local version of that reel is the okuma Electra 7bb version

which size where you interested in ?? so i'll ask before you go to store.

I suggest those who wish to buy a reel in the okuma range to PM OKUMA-1976 and he will guide u to price equivalent in Malta as well as availability. Better to do ur research before u commit.........one only stands to gain
