surf line

ok guys . i FINALLY bought a surf rod. i'm gonna use this for surf casting as well as fishing from cliffs . i was thinking of spooling up my reel with spectra for surfcasting , but i have a few questions . would the braid hold up to the abrasion from the sand ? because i have read on surfcasting sites that although it's a strong line , it doesnt hold up to sand . any comments ?
