Guys today we were speaking with a friend of ours who often comes out with us as crew for swordfish and he said that this week it was on the papers that boats registered as MFB will not be allowed to fish for swordfish.

If anyone has any info please post it here ax ha niggennen eeee this is all i need now :(

Also is it true that all fish (swordfish) have to be taken off the boat at marfa point or pixkerija in front of a fisheries representative just as they do with tuna ???

october and november is the closed season for this year. the other months you can fish for swordfish with mfb. yes you are supposed to land the swordfish like the tuna. but i dont think they enforce it a lot

what you commercial fisherman could do big boy is to reunite forces and export fish at one go, a whole lot, having some responsible people who take care of the auction at siciliy.

in this case the transport cost would be equivalent to the volume once transports proportionate to cost of freight, obtaining a better price than in malta.

just a 2 cent, requires a lot of organization and some responsible people sure
Good season so far.....

It's certainly the case for recreational fishermen currently S and MFC see here http://maltafishingforum.com/talk/index.php?topic=1752.0

Wasn't aware it being the case for MFBs as well but best to contact fisheries and query it.

It seems that fisheries want a more structured approach to the landing of fish so that they are properly recorded as part of each member states obligations.

Actually skip all the sworfish we catch is sold at a fixed price for export.
