For MFC max is 99Hp for outboards. I would have gone for the 115hp.
regulations  regarding fishing vessels  legal notice 407 of 2004 L.S425.07 dated 14/09/2004 as per my documents.

Destination Sea - these are legal notices from 2004.  I dont know what you mean by "it seems it has been included somewhere in between"??????  Is there a later legal notice mentioning the limit of 100hp for MFC?  Can we possibly verify this 100%??

joe

Shaftbomb for mfc there is no limit of power

busumark

i always was given the impression that for MFC with outboards the maximun hp is 99. i also read it somewhere but i cant remember where. the best thing to do is that on Monday we phone to fisheries and tell us in which legal notice it is written

joe

sorry i do not no for outboards but for inboard no limite

Bigboy the MFB (and MFC situation) is only doing harm to the sea. Let me explain: if u are MFB u have to bring a certain amount of fish at Pixkerija or else u are downsized to MFC (which means u cannot sell fish). Now if u are MFB u make ur utmost to catch fish and the best way to do it is by Parit (it is cheaper to use and more productive). Now we all know the effects of Parit on the Maltese waters.
If they left it as it was (ptf) or else join the MFC and MFB into one category where one can sell fish (without having a quota to reach), But this new category u cannot use Parit and do exatly the opposite that is if u are in this category (MFB+MFC) u cannot take to Pixkerija OVER a certain amount of fish.
This way if u catch u can sell the extra fish and it wont effect the MFA who make a living out of selling fish.
this is a better solution to what we have now where those in MFB have to catch fish, thus depleting the sea.

MFC - Max combined outboards 100hp (Confirmed by Fisheries)
Inboards don't seem to have a restriction.

No idea why outboards are restricted.

Also confirmed once and for all:

MFC and S are both classified as recreational/sports fishing vessels, that is that they can fish with a rod, rod and reel or hand line they may also set a bottom longline.

They cannot sell fish, set surface long-lines or nets
