When I am fishing in UK for certain species, (bream, triggerfish, mullet) at anchor from the boat, or from the shore, I use groundbait, I mix 2 of brown crumb, 1 PVA (to bulk it out), 125ml pilchard oil, & 3 beach sand (to sink it).
What do you use in Malta? I know you use it because I have seen anglers using groundbait, but what formula do you use? I suppose MrFish sells it, if so what does he sell? is it "ready mixed" or can you buy your own ingredients like I do, & mix it yourself? Wink

the basic would be stale bread mashed well in seawater........ anything added to that is basically a bonus really.

I personally like to use bread crumbs and/or smeath + sardine oil + a mixture of groundbait packets from mr fish(not the whole packet, circa a cupfull of each) (which are---> Saragi & Occiata/Form-Aglio & Bouge) (Form-Aglio is cheese and garlic[great for mullet]  Wink ) and also a couple tins of cheap mackarrel in tomato sauce....

Sounds disgusting but the fish love it.....

In other words any old concoction that you can get your hands on Cheesy I have an old meat mincer here that I put all my old fish bait/squid through to add to the "flavour", but I doubt my daughter in law will let me use her blender Roll Eyes So Mr Fish it is for a few bags of the "patent stuff" & the local supermaket for a load of stale bread! Wink
Saragi & Ociatti? Bouge? Smeath? are they Maltese names for something I might know?

Sargi & Ociatti is a ground bait for types of bream..... Bouge is that very common baitfish in malta known as vopi or vopa.... smeath is that flour-like thing you open your pizza on so it does not get stuck in the pizza oven.......
