I got a tender boat for free when I bought the boat, it was the biggest piece of crap that I had to patch up to stop it from sinking.  Before you ask no it hasnt sunk or come undone it has been stolen.  I had bought a new tender boat some months back but could never be bothered organising to pull out and get rid of this one, hence why I dont care its been stolen as it has worked out to be good news for me.  Is it because I am Australian I am always the target?   If so think of this first of all I am about to marry a Maltese girl (who actually owns the boat and gear) and secondly there is under 400,000 Maltese living in Malta whilst Australia has 168,000 Maltese living in Australia, more than 35% of your country lives in ours yet less than 1% of ours lives in your country.  So get over yourself and thanks for solving a boat problem.

148184 i really cant understand your attitude......i like the Australians more than any other nationality for the simple reason that they are so well organised, well behaved, educated and tolerant of other nationalities. but it seems that u are the exception to the rule. I have never met u so i cannot pass judgement but i am drawing my conclusion from your posts.
If the tender was a piece of crap then u should have given it back to the seller and stuck it up his nose if u accepted it then u were happy with it. no use downgrading after. If it was crappy whats the hussle man, as you said yourself they did u a favour. Hey maybe thats why they took it, to make you feel at home.
Man dont say its YOUR country that is if u are not a native aborigine....otherwise u are like the rest of the Maltese living in Australia......that is an Australian.
As I said before the Australians i know are all proud to be Aussies and although they are keep the identity where they originated yet they are first and foremost Australians..........so get over yourself and be happy.

Most Maltese I meet say careful of your lines people will steal them, especially if they know you are a foreigner, so out of the horses mouth I make that assumption. Yes they did me a favour and thats why I dont care but they didnt know that so its the principal, I have a fair idea of whose doing it they hang at the Gzira cafe but thats all I will say until I prove it.  My girlfriend who is MALTESE but lived in Australia 3/4 of her life, once we were present with a real estate agent talking to the landlord and the agent not knowing my girlfriend spoke Maltese said to the landlord you dont want to rent to her she is an outsiderI have another client, so even a Maltese citizen that was born here was looked down upon, so I would have to say to me it seems that way with quite a few maltese.  Obviously i know all maltese dont feel that way just as all Australians would not.

So most Maltese are telling u that SHIT happens as it does all over the world, and the horses said 'ESPECIALLY if u are a foreigner {not Australian.......} the principle is that most Maltese are warning you to take care NOW isnt that nice of MOST Maltese telling you there are people who like to steal and making you aware of it. It was a crappy thing so it couldnt have been well organised or very intelligent thieves most probably kids....the estate agent was a stupid one as I am in the rental business and I rent to foreigners rather to Maltese its nothing personal against Maltese but its the circumstances and legal aspects so I really cant understand why he passed that comment.
Just because u meet a couple of Assholes that doesnt mean that u decide that everyone is one.
enjoy the forum

tight lines............I am out of here
U might catch a fish tomorrow but i will sure as hell catch up with my forum friends tonight...........

placebo

it can be because you are a foreigner and someone is paying attention to you and probably thinking you are vulnerable because you're not from that area.

i would do a good watch and trap the thief. I believe you will solve the problem once you give a good lesson to someone
the fishing gods might have something for me tomorrow I'll be fishing

Kevin G

or it can be that you "took" a fishing place of another fisherman and he is doing harm to "scare" you.
The Sea Sweeper :D

Dont think so Kevin, and i am 90% sure I know who the people are, same area I have always been and there is plenty of spare buoys around the area, as to doing me harm to scare me I havnt got a face full of scars from the army from being scared so I wish they would scare me to my face. No biggy bout the boat, if anyone remembers i posted a link offering anyone from the forum to have it for free if they collected it because it literally was the biggest piece of crap but nobody took me up on the offer, so all has worked out well and I am glad in one sense.

Granitu

it's a foolish attitude of some people that steal what's not theirs. But even maltese are stolen at times from their boats, ask people who have moorings at bbugia and wied il ghajn and they tell you what happens down there.

as nelson said, organize a watch for these guys, FILM THEM IN ACT(YOU NEED PROOF TO REPORT THEM TO POLICE) you will catch them cause these people are greedy, and give them a lesson in the maltese way, by calling the police. that scares the crap out of maltese, at times.
Good season so far.....

Chowder

They target Maltese as well yes, but they have less trouble stealing from foreigners, then they complain when bad things happen to them when they are overseas

148148

Certainly I would call the police here after restraining them :), Police are a novel idea where I come from (smaller coastal town), even the Police give you an option of a beating rather than being arrested so they dont have to do the paperwork.  The Australian way there at the moment seems to be to take justice into your own hands with more murders there in the past weeks than Sicily.

caldaland

where exactly is gzira cafe? which part of gzira?
