First of all hi to everyone, it been a while since i left a post in the site. My fater and I recently bought a boat (14ft silvercraft fregatina) in combination with a yamaha e8dk (those with mixed kerosene and petrol fuel units). We are quite unexperienced and I have a couple of questions:

1) The bottom of the boat inclination towards the water, assuming its horizontal has a substantial degree of upward (vertical) elevation. I know that as my father is big in stature, it doesn't help, but it could be that the motor inclination is incorrect as I was reading the manual and hinted that the problem could be somewhere there but it is not quite straight foward. we tried it yesterday in the lowest position posssible.

2) We recently serviced the motor but yesterday it seemed that the outboard had a loss of power but the engine rpm seemed normal. Could it be because of the old fuel present in the tank( approximately 6months-1year) of some carburator stuff? The previous owner of the boat never cleaned up such tank.

Sorry, maybe I came up with the 20 question dilemmas, but any help relevant or irr ???evelant is highly appreciated

thanks in advance

The best you can do is make sure the engine trim (manually done against a fixed latch/pin) is all the way down so the bottom of the engine (near the prop) is pointing towards the front as opposed to straight down or pointing rear. This will create some negative trim pushing the nose the boat down, hence lifting up the stern (rear). however it also creates some inefficieny as the engine is pushing the nose down and creating more drag, though in a small boat like that shouldn't be an issue.

the next is correct weight distribution. Ideally if your father is driving, then you should be right at the front along with any equipment to balance out the boat. Or he's at the front and you can position some equipment in the middle. Also make sure you look at the left and right balance when you place ppl / equipment.

If the carb wasn't cleaned in the recent service, which it probably wasn't, then you could have dirt in the carb or slightly blocked fuel filters also inside the carb. try and get a carb service kit which includes jets etc. Visually inspect the tank and see if there is any accumulated dirt/sludge, but ideally you should have drained that fuel.

Yep they should have them. Then take the outboard and the service kit along to whoever maintains your outboard. But perhaps best explain the problem to him first before buying the kit.
