l put more importance on jig action rather than color.

Probably u are all right. In my opinion....
I believe that the colour is there for us to change the lure. Let me explain
If u are catching on ur favourite colour and u put more lures of same colour do u catch on all of them or u seem to keep catching on same lure that u started with?
The difference is in the currents and the temperature. No lure is exactly the same so its different action for different currents. We associate the colour because lures act differently and thats why sometimes one catches on blue and not on red, other times its on green and not orange, its because of the action of that particular lure at that particular moment.
So have different colour lures and experiment that way u know which one is working right for the actual current and conditions that there are down there.

I am sure you are right as yesterday by boat i was using my 5 year old martinetti lures they are very scruffy xpeccially my ol blue one which i caught most on as for the tataki lures it has bubble inside i think maybe good for spinning from shore i will stick to what works for me as long as i get my bait for summer and couple of good meals so i am happy. Digger, forget tataki with mono.  Those lures might work occasionally with the traditional way of fishing calamari, but they are designed for light rod and braid use.  They need to be animated with short repetitive jerks, a bit like jigging.

Ifhem mhux li nahseb li l-klamar jaf jaghzel anki ditti issa. Nahseb trid tara naqa ukoll xtip ta' teknika tuza biex l-jig taghmlu rresistibli Smiley, igifieri dvarja retrieve tal-lure. Mhux ghax tant nemmen fis-scent pero dan jibda juri l-jigs mbaghad jghaddi ghat-teknika mbaghad ghal kif tnaddaf l-klamari. -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlztPqWAbDw.
