we'll discuss on Friday but we're looking like meeting up somewhere like the entrance to St. Georges or St. Julians Bay for some shelter giving people a chance to launch from somewhere on the East coast and then heading out from there. If we remain just a few boats we can always pull alongside the jetty near Banis in St. Julians.

On Friday we'll need to designate the fishing area, clarify the points system that will be used (fish weight x species multiplier), but basically we will be working on overall weight. Something like tumbrell with have no multiplier whereas something like a Dentex will have a 5x multiplier for instance (just examples). All fish will need to be legal and above minimum size. Return by 17.00 as boats will need to make their way back to their respective slipways etc.

bigboy

fair enough :)

Seems like you will be jigging mela nicky :P

Guys was having a chat with nick about the competition.

The points are going to work out this way:

Common fish like tumbrell, kubrit etc will have no points multiplier so i.e. 1 point per 100g this is due to the face that these fish are caught in abundonce.

Fish like Dentex, Pagri, sargi, AJ etc (within minimum size requirements) will have a 3x multiplier i.e. 3 points per 100g.

It is a must that all undersized fish should be released!!!!

From my point of view as I was talking with nick, this time of the year is not the best time for bottom fishing. As for trolling the main species that are common to encounter are tumbrell, kubrit, plamti and barracuda.

The fishing methods which will be allowed in the competition are Bottom fishing, Jigging and Trolling.

Competition will start off @ 11am in the mouth of Marsamxett harbour and will end at 5.30pm at st julians (Banis Jetty).

Since we are a small group it is much easyer for us to cooperate with eachother.

Anything else that you feel should be discussed can be posted here and then we will discuss them on Friday evening.

Come on Guys lets make this friendly competition a day out at sea to enjoy ourselves. I also emphasize that all Skippers make sure that their boats are equipped with safety equipment in case of an emergency.

Need anything on that day my number is 99385795, or else give a shout on the vhf channel 6 - Call Sign Bigboy
