@freedive - lol you caught me ...  .... well we have to admit that most of here do have experience with supposedly professional stuff failing us miserably, then some solutions using recycled junk, including prams, epoxied broken wood, cable ties, nylon rope, corks, printer cartridge stuff, plastic pipes, nail polish etc, have never failed us and actually worked better than what you find in shops.

@ blueskip - Well done on your idea and thanks for sharing! It looks very interesting and perfectly functional. Like you and as you've probably realised from my post above, I'm a firm believer that on the water it's not good looks or the price of stuff which makes the difference, but simple functionality & reliability of equipment coupled with the skill of who's using them.... And time has proven this philosophy right time and time again
