Correct Rammx - the fishing serial does not blend with the cars that Tonio promotes on his programmes. Ghandek ragun...and the lady of "X'Qala L-Bahar" is much more chic than Tonio...definitely so. MFF administrators pls note and no doubt I will offer my services again next year so long as the young lady is willing to spend the day at sea with us...hehe.

I think that Tonio (PaqPaq) is trying to make some excuses regarding the filming of that occasion, but he knew what was happening since that it was his programme.

bigboy

it was a disgrace eeee

i expected some better footage of the competition :s

shanook

I think that X'qala il bahar were interested in filming a day out for Alungi way back 3 years.......so I dont see any problems in filming an Alungi competition........I am sure that Skip will look into it.......

I think that most of such airing on TV are more based on advertising than on real airing of information. IT's not easy to air a TV program without advertising .... I forgot about this airing unfortunately due to some football on TV.

I think come next year we will have to look into more detail about such event and ensure good airing in a way that it reflects fishing more than boating!

... but to have a slight of exposure on TV is always good and do not think too negative.

I think that the fact that MFF was mentioned in itself ia already a good boost so let's build on that.

The alungi event was one of the ever most wonderful events that were organised and is getting better every year. In a few years time TV producers will have to come themselves to ask permission to air such an event ;)
the fishing gods might have something for me tomorrow I'll be fishing

Right guys....
I wasted my time waiting to see the programme.
I think that all boils up to finance......... Obviously if he was offered seafox (the boat I mean :-))for a month long trial, than the footage might have gone better.

we'll be discussing this with tonio when we get back as both Joe and myself are currently abroad.

I haven't yet seen the programme but based on your comments guts I'm not holding my breath. I would like to know whether Tonio will be going back to the editing table for a round 2 or not. this based on the fact that Seafox offered his boat for free and had multiple hook up's with tonio onboard with his underwater camera.

RLR provided the large rib but the forum paid a pretty hefty fuel bill based on its consumption. part of that included us picking up tonio's camera man running him out 18 miles and then back in.

from there he made his way to the aircraft sponsored in full by European Pilot Academy where he was airborne for around 45 mins to film.

I have to admit I was under the impression we would have either a whole programme dedicated to the competition or multiple programmes with shorter segments all under the CafCaf 'brand'.

I also asked to have a copy of all the footage but was told this was not possible until the programme aired. if for financial reasons this is the extent of the exposure then hopefully we can get the raw footage to put something together.

We were all counting on Tonio to deliver something special .......

Will keep you posted with any updates

Hi Skip - I guess you are still on your "running in", enjoy it buddy!
FYI and just to update you - I asked PBS if they let me have a DVD of the programme aired last Tuesday and Nicky Gauci, Head of Programmes, told me that I could collect a DVD at Euro24! ...however the recording would be of the rubbish we saw a few days ago, so its no deal for me. I asked Tonio if I could have the "full version" of the days outing and he replied in the affirmative stating....maybe after 4 weeks ..sic! I also taunted him to have a re-run or a sort of round 2 as you state or suggest above Nick..but he replied in the negative. Oh... thanks Baghira I got your message, you are absolutely right, you could not have said it better!! This chap tends to do his programmes on freebies. Sorry chaps but Mr. Paq Paq won't be on my boat again. I am pissed off simply because all the organisers went to so much effort, and dedication preparing for the event many months before the day trusting, "directly or indirectly", to promote the MFF all over the Island. I have been continually asked by several freinds and family "was this was a fishing competition...where was the fish caught on the day?"...Thanks to Tonio we never saw a fish being caught or even weighed at the final stage of the competition. All those guys who happily weighed thier fish on the scales after so many hours at sea, ably directed by Antoine/Alfa Delta, must surely be hugely disappointed. Its a real shame to say the least.
On a final point, I opted to see the programme rather than watch Man United play (at the same viewing time) in the Carling Cup, I am sure the game was far better entertainment than Tonio's crap and his running around in a new Polo"!!!!!

I can confirm that the screening on Pap Paq was a real crap. Today there was a repetition in the afternoon and all there was to see was Sicily here and Sicily there. Only a brief chat on Seafox's boat in a whole programme. Shame on you Tonio.

BTW - @Seafox - you have one hell of a boat there mate. Tight lines.

Kevin was that a full repeat of the programme or something else? I thought they replay was on a Monday? Can't seem to find any info online

Unfortunately Paq Paq had already started as I was not aware of it. I started watching from the feature on cars in Paris if I'm not mistaken. Then there was the filming on Seafox's boat, just a chat between Tonio and the skipper, a very short clip with an underwater camera of an alunga behind the boat, and than started blattering in Sicily. And another feature on the new Polo. I watched for quite some time but than gave up and switched to another station. It seemed like a full repeat even though I did not watch from start to finish.

Nick - no need to get in a twist about the shabby programme that Tonio put up for us. I can confirm that the repeat which Malvizzu viewed, even though not in full, was an exact replica of the rubbish aired on Tuesday night. Yes, Tonio only showed us a glimpse of the one fish that got away but where were the other 5 that we hooked??? He filmed each and every one of these for several minutes, in the water, being reeled in, hooked on the gaff and "flapping" in the fish well. The "Alongi competition" was about fishing......, unless Tonio confused it with his Polo and Scicily trips... I am really baffled cos how can you air a documentary about "fishing" with no fish being shown?? The weighing in was so interesting with all participants watching so attentively in pretty strong seas. Loads of  Alongi were filmed by Tonio from Antoine's boat..but we saw none of it..!!! Its like showing a football match without a ball in play!!....... Anyway thanks so much Malvizzu for your compliments re my boat. She is nice I must admit and ideally designed for fishing. Unfortuneately I did not enjoy it much this year (after July)  due to overseas work commitments, miskina the Seafox has been in the boat yard since the end of July. However I do have at sea a practically new twin-engined white Perla/Kajjiek which serves me well for this time of the year.
Very easy to handle, excellant for seas up to force 4 and comfortable to fish with. I/Seafox will once again offer "our services" (if so desired) next year, but please MFF administrators........do seriously consider re-engaging Tonio for any future events.
