Has anyone ever had a serious rod problem?

Whenever you hear alot of fellow fishermen chatting away it always about the reel, lure, line or occasionally the other boat crossing dangerously but one rarely hears the rod!


Although a rod is an essential piece of equipment (like a tennis player's racket) what would the repercussions be if you had a medium to poor quality rod with a great reel and a great rod to a medium to poor quality reel... would the later be disastrous, i would tend to say yes!

So when buying i always tend to go for a reel first which i know i can rely on based on the type of fishing i do and then try and find its best partner. Do watch out though on those test pages on numerous magazines, sometimes you find certain reels manufacutured just for certain rods, now thats brilliant except for the fact that the price is always wrong......
