Hi.

I am a keen angler from Sussex in England and have fished for 40 years now and have a nice 6.5 metre boat. I work in fisheries enforcement in the UK.

I visit Gozo once per year and have had some limited success with smaller bream and mullet. Can anyone provide me with advice regarding any hot spots on the Island? Or does anyone know of any charter boats that operate from Gozo?. I have hired a boat from Xlendi, but at 200 Euros per day it is costly.

Try Mgarr harbour,  fishing from pontoons can have some good results especially bottom night fishing, use light tackle and keep a net close to you. As bait you can try fresh squid for night and shrimps for day. Spinning may give some good results with the odd barracudas as well but always go light with tackle. If you like to go boat fishing try to make friends with some local fisherman most of them are friendly and will be willing to take you with them and Welcome to the forum.
