hello

i would like to buy a rod for shore fishing.  it seems that rods are divided into light, medium and heavy action...what should i be looking for?

i usually use a pater noster when boat fishing....however, people fishing from shore seem to use a float...i've never used this before...am i correct that i can't use a paternoster with a float...?

thanks

of course you can. I believe most local shops can give you this kind of help. ANd sometimes even more........tc

hi sg,

the technique used when using a float is called running float...if you are going to fish somewhere which really is rocky etc (iwehhel al a**a), it is the best you can use to prevent swearing :)

In some cases pater noster with lead at the bottom is more effective in my opinion.

With regards to rod...i suggest you buy a fast action maybe somewhere between 5g-25g with a .20/.22 line should be perfect on coastal areas ;)

i bought a mithcell rod, 10-30g... thanks

are you going to use paternoster or running float? :)

sg

i only know how to use pater noster, however, it seems you cannot reach very far out with this system - or maybe I do not know how to throw the line well enough - so I will need to learn how to use a running float...

sg

no luck yet, i'm using a pole float with a couple of stoppers, with size 11 or so hooks, dried worms, and a small weight (size 1) attached in a pater noster style..:( seems that i must be doing something/s wrong

some shrimps might do the trick. 1euro shrimps will get you enough to have a try

hi ken, i did try them..no luck though, but maybe because it was quite windy/rough this morning.... i did seem to get a few small bites though..

when you go fishing...and you want to catch something for sure...you should somewhere rocky. Buy Live Korean worms from any local fish shops in malta...try using those...should get lucky with something. (P.S THough you should know that it isn't that good for bottom fishing this time of year ;) )

sg

hello...thanks...probably asking what is obvious to you guys..but why is it not good for bottom fishing now? should i use a running ledger/float instead?

L-Ghaxqi

running float should be good...try using different baits like...shrimps, worms or some bread. Give us feedback of your catches :P
