Further to 'cowboy' attitudes mentioned earlier here, I experienced 1st hand what 'cowboy' attitude is all about.  Coming into Marsamxett creek yesterday, well inside the harbour actually, a Fairline Targa37 (Blue hull) came cruising in at about 15kts.  The wake it left was bloody enormous.  This boat had an SSR registration with the ensign flag.  To add insult to injury, the TM dingy was patrolling the creek.  The Fairline kept up its arogant and miserable show of coming into the harbour at more than 10knts, overtaking the TM dingy, and to the utter disgust of mine and other boats obseving the speed limit, the TM dingy completely ignored the Fairline.  My conclusion is simply this:  Either the Fairline is owned by a 'well known' who TM are too afraid to approach, or TM are tough with the weak, and weak with the tough, or TM are very selective in who they choose to approach.  So much for harbour wardening!!!!!....

A couple of years ago in the UK a jetski driver was convicted for contravening these Rules. Our legislation is very similar to the one in the UK.  Cowboy attitudes have to stop.

It depends on who the cowboys are. Law is never the same to everyone in Malta. Windpower I invite you to come to St Paul's Bay on a Sunday and you will see for yourself the cowboys. High powered racing boats exit and enter Xemxija Bay at full speed, not mentioning the noise pulution they create with the engines. The 5knts speed limit in the middle of the bay between Barracudas and Fekruna is NEVER observed. On the other hand, the authorities show their strength on small, recreational fishing boats, and this happens ever so often.

Fully agree Gaffer. I extend my invitation to anyone to come to Barracudas/Vecca/Xemxija on a Sunday and to see the cowboys.
