do a radio check perla 165...for example call on channel 6 and ask the person that answers from where he/she is sending to get a picture of the range that your vhf is capable. also, take note of the signal strength and how much is it clear. you can also call valletta on channel 12 for a radio check.

As far as I know the VHF should be transferred with the boat. It is not registered on the owner but on the boat so you do not have to pay again.

The way I know it, when you use the VHF, You first call 3 times the person you are calling followed by your call sign.

Eg: Valletta port, Valletta port, Valletta port, Clara. Radio check, over.
