Hi,

Is there a way how one can calculate knots? I believe there was a recent post about this, but I can't find it !!

Gazzetta

Do you mean converting knots to km/h ?

i think it is very difficult since you do not have a GPS.

but do not worry much. Personally i owned a boat and caught very nice fish and never bothered about much details.

just try to learn and watch habits of fish and how they attack their prey.
some tips: barracudas love speed, kahli loves slow pace, tuna loves speed and even alungi.

even lampuki love some speed. The only time you need very slow is fishing/ trolling bottom for dentici and also with live bait for acciola.

thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.

By the way is it difficult to troll with live bait? I imagine there is a special technique for tying  live bait.

eh chris no, actual knots. I think placebo is right, its next to impossible to know at what knots one is going.

yes it is some difficult to troll with live bait. Sometimes we call it live bait but it is pieces of klamari or else dead fish (kavalli) but which have been dead for only a short period of time.

There are various methods of tying these fish. It depends much on the size and the type of bait used. I use 2 hooks on small in front (keep fish from mouth area) and the other to hold the fish from belly area.

It is a bit complicated to explain here as it all depends on experience and trying out various methods.

The most important thing is very basic: Fish looks like a live bait (not twisting during trolling)

Keep that in mind and experiment and learn. I am also still learning and as time goes by it becomes more perfect!
