Buddhagrass Posts:376 | June 10, 2009, 08:56:04 CET thx ganni for the amazing info. In fact it is a protected species. My friend had it for ages in his aquarium and by now I guess it's huge in size. |
ganni Posts:685 | June 10, 2009, 08:27:28 CET This animal is an arthropod. Arthropods are characterised by an outer skeleton, know as an exoskeleton and as you know it is very hard. The animal needs to grow, however the exoskeleton is not elastic and does not allow growth. To solve this problem, the animal sheds this exoskeleton and grows another larger exoskeleton in which it will fit loosely so that it can continue growing inside the new skeleton till the skeleton is again small for the animal. This process is known as ecdysis and the animal is observed to grow in bursts and not contnually like humans. Im not sure, but i think this animal is protected and cannot be caught |
