These reel are very good, however like all level wind reels certain  parts are designed to fail in the event of a jam on the mechanism.
On most penn levelwinds it was the nylon drive gear, on the banax its the pawl, i have replaced mine at least once. The original factory part is made of a weaker material and gets chewed up quickly especially if you reel in at hi speed while the reel is not held horizontally.
Anyway the part is easy to replace, and i stocked up on spares, i am now using pawls intended for an okuma reel, the only difference is the lenght, they are too long so i shortened to .975mm.

Hi Guido...prosit for the catch. I myself just got a Banax from the net - haven't tried it yet. How do you cope with it? any strong or weak pts? ???

I used smaller rod mounted electric reels. (BANAX KAIGEN)

Not a lot of depth!!! Then they are caught in less than 170 m depth. Well done! Were you using an electric or a manual reel?

well done mike and darren :)

All we caught was a 20kg pastardella after a whole night rolling with the high waves :/
