skip Posts:3968 ![]() | July 13, 2010, 07:01:56 CET We can always create the 'Broomstick Fishing Club' ![]() Time for me to get a 16-20lbs rod or two, then if I do happen to chance across a Tuna we'll see what happens!! |
MartinB Posts:665 ![]() | July 12, 2010, 21:07:36 CET Fishing's always more fun on lighter tackle! Tbh more often than not my rods are a bit over the top for the fish i catch...but then again knowing my luck,if i decided to use a lighter rod you can bet money that it would be the day the biggest fish ive ever seen bites my lure! ![]() At least whenever ive decided to use lighter tackle (line thickness etc) that's always been the case! But then again if you go on Youtube and do a search for "Barbie Fishing" you'll be suprised what can be achieved on light tackle if your patient..i was! ![]() Personally i believe if you have a good sturdy reel with a good drag mechanism (Avet reels are awesome apparently!) than with patience you'll be able to fight most fish we encounter here. |

skip Posts:3968 ![]() | July 12, 2010, 14:14:35 CET I'm a broom stick boy as well Colin!! All my rods are 30/50 except for my jigging rods and I've been saying I ought to try lighter rods for Alongi. Iman said it's actually your rod and reel I'm using.....I was under the impression it's a 20/30lbs rod |
SEAFOX Posts:315 ![]() | July 12, 2010, 13:33:47 CET Skip - is this some form of flak about the "broom sticks" that I carry/use on my trips? I'll get some lighter ones for next season! |
