Windy fishing :)

Previous Image | Next Image
Description: Today i decided to go for a quick session and conditions were NUTS!! eventually i found a quiet(ish) corner out of the wind but had no luck... However just as i was about to give up,all of a sudden little bait fish were jumpimg everywhere & LOADS of small sawrell turned up and i had a good time catching them and throwing them back (caught about 20+) not including the ones which managed to escape due to the crazy current and wind, which btw made each fish seem twice its size  ;D
As i was bringing up the one in the pic (all were this size i.e very small;which is why i was C & R fishing) a big cuda came along & bit into it!!,so i put on a bigger lure and eventually i turned the tables on him & snapped him up ;D
All in all a very unexpected & nice suprise as i really wasn't expecting to catch anything, just went to pass the time! Result!!  ;D

In the days when i use to read a lot about spearfishing and i use to actually manage to go, the surf was always amazing! and the surprises i use to see (and not catch as it was emics job hehe :P) was impressive! One time even a nice big dentex in a few meters of water hunting little mullets!

Yet the difficulty i find in spinning in surf is what lures to use. The size and type of lure are always a problem and the bit i tried in surf always turned out to be a lure loosing session. And casting with wind against me is always an issue with the lighter lures :S

10x jean.It just goes to show that its always worth it to have a go as you never can tell what may come along.Despite what we may think sometimes!

One of the reasons i stuck at it today is i believe alot in spinning in the 'surf' (and today trust me there was loads of it!!) as the oxygen content of the water at the surface will be alot higher and fish seem to love this  ;)
