trebble hook in the Thigh

Previous Image | Next Image
Description: Guys, (ladies included) This is the end result of a trebble hook getting cought in my thigh yesterday while fishing for lampuki.  Caught a nice puka on an X-rap 10cm Rapala...the fish was trashing around, splattering blood everywhere.  I tried to hold it down firmly against me, the fish slipped, and the trebble hook dug into my thigh.  Finished up in Mater Dei, as the medics in St. James were reluctant to open an incission in my thigh very close to major blood vessels, ect, ect, ect.  So ended up with a 4cm gash, it took 6 stitches to close the wound.  You can see part of the trebble hook next to the scissors.  So, guys, moral of the story, be careful, be very careful with trebble hooks and Lampuki, and never cut the trebble hook off when part of it enters the body.  LEave it dangling, and may your way to the nearest Accident and Emergency service, preferably Mater Dei.

Get well soon Joe. I've had a similar experience and twice my father in the past 2 summers but not to the extent of Joe's. Still we had to go to Mosta and Rabat polyclinics to have the treble hooks removed.

Crap Joe that looks nasty. Hope you weren't alone on the boat. As you mentioned lucky you missed the main blood vessels
