Description: Can anyone identify this fish? It seems to be transparent, has sharp teeth on the lower jaw and none on the upper jaw, and it got caught overnight on a biggish swordfish hook on a mid-water longline

I don't think it has a Maltese name. It must be what the Italians call 'Luccio imperiale" Scientific name is 'Sudis hyalina'. It is a deep sea fish that is occasionally caught in the Straits of Messina on swordfish longlines.
