Title: Awwrat, Need Help
Post by: Canadian_Charlie on May 17, 2011, 20:37:19 CET
I'd like to fish for awwrat and would like some help so I can catch them.

Are they bottom or top water?  ???

Where would be a good place to go fish for them, I'm fishing from the shore as I don't have a boat yet?  ???

What kind of bait should I use?  ???

Can I fish for them all year round?   ???

Any other suggestions will help

THANKS

I am certainly no expert in catching Awrat (Gilthead seabreem) but i did catch a few over the years.

They are bottom fish.

Whenever I cought one I was chummming with bread and cheese.

Bait i used bread mixed with cheese and sometimes even just shrimp.

I think they are seasonal.

Nobody gives good fishing sites sorry and I presume you don't want any bad ones.

they are bottom fish. Feeder fishing is great for such species.

You can fill feeder with gilthead groundbait found in most fishing and pet shops around the island.

For bait use: alive shrimps, yabbies (ckal), dead shrimps (fresh not frozen packed) or crabs

good places: pieta marina, cottonera ports, birzebbuga and MXlokk, Sliema front
