Last year I started seeing and catching Sawrell in the beginning of June. This year I caught my first one on the 22nd of April.. A lot earlier...

yes they are not Sawrell, but there might be a patern of migratory fish passing earlier cos of the warmer seas.
Yeah in some places in Italy they get to see the Brazilian babes a little earlier than we do close to shore. Another point is that they have hundreds of kilometers of shoreline and in some spots they do not let out any FADs so the fish have nothing to congregate to offshore. They will naturally venture inshore to hunt.

The simplest lure to use would be small metal Jigs, anything from 20g to 80g, depending on the casting range of your rod.
Normal Jerk Minnows work fine, but the real fun is on the top water lures. Walk-the-dog, Poppers, and even better Skipping Lures like the MiniKetc or the Magux 35.
I think it is better fish lampuki with imrejkba I see it more effective fishing for lampuki

First catches from the shore reported today!
Seems like a good and early year for Lampuki, already saw (actually lost!) lampuki over 1Kg.

I had one reported catch from a customer. But I suspect it was a freak occurrance. usually they show up a lot later in September. However, nothing can be excluded.

I've been informed of confirmed catches in the soutwest of Malta and some other reports from the usual spots in Gozo.
Sizes range from small to reasonable.
