Begginer spearfishing INFO REQUEST

Hello all this is my first post,

Im going to study in malta, i would like to know how much a set of begginer equipment could cost there? I would use a gun of 75, im planning to do it for my food there since i love fish, i would need a suit there? anyways, the things that I think I might need its a gun, a knife, long fins, weight belt, the mask,  float, floatline and I dont know if I would really need the suit for coastal waters, (close to the shore) I'll be around Swieqi, if you could tell me where I could rent a kayak there (or if it is even possible) and what I could found in those waters I mean wich species that I could obtain that are not protected by the state oh! and if I need a license there! if you could give me some information about this I'll be gratefull, thanks!

As regards the suit: Yes you need one 3mm for summer (the jellyfish around are a reason enough), and a 5 m suit or more for winter.

Thanks a lot for your support, what about the protected species and the equipment's price? do you think north of pembroke could be a good area? since paceville and san julian its full of drunk teenagers and broken bottles means a lot of activity on the beach.

pembroke is not a bad area....
Fishstocks have really diminished.... but if you know what to look for, and what time of year, you can get something
