hi guys
what bait do you use for long lines

I normally use a mix of cuttlefish bits, fish bits and shell fish
i do quite well but some times end up with just small ones

any suggestions

Believe it's always Mackerel, but guess you could use something smaller like Herring as well available in 10kgs frozen boxes from Azzopardi

Simon G

i heard some people even use chedder cheese as bait
has any one tried it out
what do you think

I remember we used cheddar blocks for Kahli just before it got dark. If I'm not mistaken we used to burn the cheddar slightly as well. That was 20 years ago on the Bugibba Jetty.

Tomorrow I'm off for Rusett at Bahar ic-Caghaq. Haven't done it in a while and I always enjoy it. I'll use white snails for them.

Anyone knows of a good place for bottom line fishing off st paul's bay?

ciappinu

Not really anymore.......bottom line fishing in the St.Paul's Bay area has gone down these last 10 years. Best I find is around 1 mile out from St.Paul's Statue.

gottie

tumbrell is one of the best baits for long lines, for bottom long lines and also for lampuki and swordfish. to cut it best it has to be a bit frozen.
