Shing

Hi everyone,
My name is Shing and I am student studying in the UK.  I really enjoy fishing.  I will be visiting Malta for the first time in April and I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice regarding off the shore fish or inexpensive fishing trips.  Are there certain fish that are easier to catch in April?  What are the regulations for fishing and licensing?  If anyone is planning to go for a day trip either off the shore between April 10-15 I would love to join you.  I am going to bring a telescopic rod and spin casting reel.  If any of you have any advice about where to buy cheap gear once I am there or arrange trips, I would very much appreciate it.  Thank you.
Shing :)

Hi Shing, welcome to the forum. No need for a licencee, but I recommend you have a look at the fishing regulations towards the top right hand side of the page above recent posts.

This board has quite a few answers about shore fishing locations:

And then there's the ledgering http://maltafishingforum.com/talk/index.php/board,61.0.html and spinning boards http://maltafishingforum.com/talk/index.php/board,60.0.html

Ideally you'll want to find someone doing some coastal boat fishing. I'm sure some of the guys will jump in with some replies.

Hi Skip,
Thank you for your response.  I will have a look at the links you suggested.  Perhaps I will try beach casting at Ghadira, Gnejna or Camkev.

I am staying in Seliema.  Are there any good fishing shops nearby?  It would probably be good to get some local gear and bait before I try my luck.

If anyone is doing coastal boat fishing around that time and could use an extra person for a trip I would be greatful if you give me a shout.

Good luck fishing everyone,
Shing

Hi Shing,

I cannot offer you any boat trips as i do not have a boat and i work so can only go fishing in the afternoon and weekends, IF there is not alot of wind or raining. What i can offer you, since you will be in sliema, is i take you to SPITEC, a forum member to buy good gear at the lowest prices. the most i can do is pick up up and get you there. let me know.

Shing

Hi,
Thank your for your message.  If you would like to go fishing in afternoon I would love to join you.  Perhaps you can let me know how I can reach SPITEC does he have a store in Sliema or address?  Does he have a website or email which I can reach him?
