hi can anyone explain what is the practical difference between live bait and artifical lures? and between the various types of bait and lures? are some better than others? it's quite confusing when starting out

We could probably write a whole new testament on the subject.

Let's start from the basics ... land or boat fishing?

As cluth_kick said its impossible to say everyone has his ideas. What I think about this subject is to experiment and you will know what is best for you and the place you intened to fish.

it is a kayak..it can go as far out as any boat, except that i need to paddle back :)

mela, best thing would be to rig up with a small lure on light tackle. eg, rapala x rap 8 cm, pin minnows.... if you can keep a steady speed for a good amount of time, a small spinner could do some damage as well. I would not recomend live bait for on a kayak.

It all dipends on the places you go and the time of year. For example if you go out of gnejna and go on your left on the way to imtahleb you can find some lampuki and you need a lure for them but if you want to have more bites you would better choose a few small lures on light tackle.
