HI I SENT AN EMAIL TO THE INSTRUCTER LEO WHICH THANKS TO EMIC LAST YEAR MADE A FREEDVING COURSE AND ASKED HIM ABOUT THIS YEAR BUT SADLY HE RESPONDED THAT HE IS NOT COMING ANY MORE TO MALTA BECOUSE HE MOVED TO BONAIR

A FEW DAYS AGO I MET AND MADE FRIENDS WITH ONE OF THE CREW OF ROBERTO TIVERON (I M SURE MOST OF YOU HAVE HEARD ABOUT HIM) WHO HAPPENS TO BE AN APNEA ACADEMY INSTRUCTOR AND ALSO A GOOD SPEARFISHER . I TALKED WITH HIM ABOUT APNEA COURSES HERE IN MALTA AND HE TALKED TO ROBERTO TIVERON AND HIS OTHER COMPANIONS AND THEY ARE INTERESTED TO MAKE SOME COURSES HERE IN MALTA I ASKED THEM ABOUT THE PRICE AND WHAT NEEDED FOR THE COURSE AND THEY WILL RESPOND IN A FEW DAYS .

Ok no problem when the instructor sends me any information I will post it here .
If you can inform other people about the course its better becouse I think the more we take the course the cheaper it will be.

it s very inportant that who has siries interest to attend to put down their names. Last year I had worked very hard for it and can say from personal expirance, please everyone interest must help Eman. I m in for it and will see the other 4 if wish to do our next stage.

To all spearos in this forum I suggest that a course like this is a must, and once in doing it one can realise about how much we put ourselfs in danger for nothing.

Today I recieved some more info

To make this course we have to be in a min of 20 and its going to be held in 3 or 4 days

They are going to be  4 instructors Tiveron included  so they can observe each one of us also they are going to film each one of us so we can understand better our mistakes and improve

The price is something in between 200eu to a maximum 280eu I m trying to get the best price but it depends from many things  becouse we need to rent a big dinghy or boat and hall ecc ecc  

We talked about he best time of year to make this course and we were thinking to make at the end of September so there will be less boats and we will be more relaxed

Also they asked me that at the end of the course maybe  we  organise a day of spearfishing with them and they film us and some good catches ( who knows maybe we can end up on one of those Italian spearfishing DVDs

I think it will be a be a nice event for all those interested in freediving and spearfishing and we can learn a lot from it but till now it seems that there aren't much people interested to take part    So all those intereted pls tell the others becouse I have to get a list of all those interested till a certain date

LESSONS ON NEW METTODS OF COMPENSATION
PRACTISING IN POOL AND SEA
LESSONS ON HOW TO ARRIVE AT A CERTAIN DEPTHS NOT BY FORCING OUR LIMITS BUT INSTEAD REACHING OUR MAXIMUM DEPTHS RELAXED SO FOR EXAMPLE NOT REACHING -30M AND GO BACK UP ! BUT STAY THERE AND TAKE A PHOTO ,FISHING ,LOOKING AROUND OR DO SOMETHING  THAT YOU LIKE

PLUS IF THEY COME THEY WILL BRING WITH THEM "la slitta del variabile" ( I DONT KNOW HOW ITS CALLED IN ENGLISH) WITH THIS  WE CAN REACH MORE DEPTHS BY USING LESS ENERGY

I will be very interested in this course.

As additional information, "la slitta del variable" is a weighted sled (usually 1/3 of the weight of the diver). The diver hangs on to it to get a free ride to depth without finning. Diver will then have to fin/pull himself up using the guide rope.

The one I had used in Sardinia by apnea academy is similar. In addition this type of sled does not have a baloon / lifting bag for a free ride back up to the surface! It has to be pulled up :-(

I am not sure whether you can point out the following to the instructor who will be coming.

I just learnt this week that AA (Apnea Academy) holds two types of apnea "camps" -
(1) Stage
(2) Course

During a stage, you get practice and some theory - however, this does not certify you in anything or has a recoginsed certification should one want to proceed on improvig his skills and levels.

A couse on the other had you still get formal training on theory and also practice - however, this is backed up by a certification.

I know that in the whole run, this is just a piece of paper, but should one of us need to enrole in any additional apnea courses or better-still aim to achive and instructor certification, stages do not count and are not even taken into consideration.

I am pointing this out because lately I asked about a course held by a different freediving body (AIDA) and neither the stage, nor the experience have been taken into consideration. Unless a certification is presented, one has to start from 1star (lowest level).

I do not know what is the difference per-se with regards to the setup between the stage and the course - but perhaps you can check this out and see whether there are any possibilities.

When I talked with the instructor I was informed that they will do an intensive stage course and after the course a 1st level or 2nd level certificate will be given depending on the results of each one of us
