How did it go? I tried to look up results in the above web page but among the many tables I could not find anything directly related to seawater float fishing

You will not find any results as the float fishing was cancelled! It was a wonderful experience and team Malta placed 2nd and 6th on first day.

2nd day everything was cancelled since infringements from the Italian team were discovered and some countries turned away and did not want to fish again!

An enquiry is now in process by the FIPS MER in Luxembourg and could be that team Malta will end up winning the gold!

Anyway it was a wonderful experience with a huge organisation and we are looking forward for next year in Spain! After all fishing is not all about competition and winning ...... there's much more one can get from such experiences

this is what exactly happened

Well I'm glad to hear you guys had fun and did so well. As you wrote it was one heck of an experience and that is the most important aspect and that the team got on well.

It's a shame to read that after all that planning and expense, some technical infringements spoilt things for everyone :(

Well it was too good to be true! After the first day being in such a very good position we were overjoyed ........ with some effort we could have easily won the 2nd day as we all had a plan what to do the next day.

Fishing a new place is not easy guys ... there are much different things and fish do not behave the same way as you have learnt in your country.

But it all ended like that as the Italians (most of which are people from who we have got all the tricks and learnt) turned out to be the cheaters using very small hooks and putting on weight catching ridiculous small fish like cawl while the rules stated that a smaller hook than size 10 can not be used.

Anyway guys ...... apart from float fishing there are also many other disciplines that we can participate in as nation. Hope you can pick out one of them and work towards reaching a goal. The event was marvellous .... many new friends ... many fishing contacts ........ some free fishing tackle like Mommoti lures, Tenya and other stuff. There is much you can win from such tournaments!

As a consolation at least i have the Italian shirt which by the way they came in numbers to exchange afterwards!

No wonder I could not find the results! However it is shameful to see the 'home' team  resorting to that sort of obvious cheating - Did they honestly think that the other teams are foolish enough not to realise that you simply cannot catch cawla after cawla with hooks size 10 or bigger?

Anyway placing second in the first round was an excellent result. Congratulations. Good that overall you enjoyed the experience.
