Hi All,

Not sure how many skippers out there are up for this, but I believe one way in offering people a chance to try out offshore fishing without resorting to a full blown charter is via cost sharing. Basically in a cost sharing situation, the fuel costs related to that day or days fishing are shared between those on the boat. In this section we will post as early as possible any open slots available for non permanent team members to join.

Currently in my case aboard "Never Say Die" we're a permanent crew of 2, sometimes 3 and we can take another 1-2 people comfortably to fish as well. Total rod spread is ideally 4 but we can go up to 6 with horizontally mounted holders.

Whilst most boats can take more people its important to not overcrowd the deck area with people in order to fish in a safe manner.

If anyone is interested in joining us get in touch, I will shortly be posting typical costs for 1 day / 2 day trips of different types as unfortunately :( the Twin V8 engines we have are not very fuel friendly and as our PM keeps putting up the fuel prices he's not helping much!!

I encourage other skippers to do the same

Mike, I'm no longer using my dads boat "Never Say Die", it was great whilst it lasted but sadly the overall running costs were beyond my pocket! It's on the hard looking a bit sad and up for sale, but with the current global economic situation doesn't look like it will be going any time soon.

I bought an 18 foot open boat with a 90hp "Eagle One", more practical to run but I certainly miss the benefits of having a larger boat.

The_Gaffer is probably the largest boat available for cost sharing (a Trojan 26) that usually runs around ?40 a head for a typical days trip. Not sure if the skippers of the Kaptan 18's, Shanook and Ramio are offering something similar.

Camkev's boat is in a good location and he's always out fishing and offering spaces :)
