I have come across a photo of the huge great white shark which was caught in Malta a number of years ago and thought that others might be interested in seeing this amazing catch. I've posted it onto the Big Game gallery as I'm not sure how to embed it into this post.
I don't know much about this catch except that it was a female around 23feet long, caught off Wied Iz-Zurrieq, and when they sliced it open they found dolphins and pieces of turtle in its belly.
Does anybody know any further info on this slice from the fishing history of Malta?

If you google search great white Malta you will find quite a few sites including ones in the US!

Yes. For a while this shark was considered to be the greatest Great White ever caught in the world. However later on they realised that the shark was much smaller than claimed. Not unusual for us Maltese to exagerate by a kilo or 2!

I used to live at zurrieq back at the time when that monster was cought, I belive it was in 87 or 88 not sure, it was cought by John Abela and alfredo (can't remember his surname) known as bin Alla, and I remember seeing John putting his head inside his mouth for photos, also I remember ppl claiming it was 23feet but my father always told me that it was just above 5mtrs, Quoting my father " U dak min dejjem kien jara kbir" I was a little boy at that time and all i know is that it's still is the biggest fish i've ever seen.
