This might be stupid question, but has anybody caught anything decent using the PATERNOSTER method in the morning. I am using squid as bait. I am catch the usual nice size Burqaxa and others. But I am wondering if there is a nice chance of catching something decent.

rammx

the big fish i usualy  catch using paternoster are parrot fish by using shrimps...and pagell as well...using paternoster and squid in rough seas can also produce big sized sargi

btw you can also catch a nice Ronaldinho goal on tv lol  :D :D  :D joking mate :)

So basically it is not a waste of time fishing like that

rammx

no no i think its a good technique!...it depends on the fish youre targeting...
i frequently catch the fish i told you

shanook

its not the paternoster that catches decent fish, its being in the right habitat for that particular fish.

The coast line along Marfa to Cirkewwa is it a good location?

charlie

in rough seas when fishing for sargi I prefer to use crabs (granci) as bait .When I used shrimps and crabs I notice that the seabreams (sargi) prefer the crabs

intermilan

anybody know though if fishing for Sargi is good in the Marfa, Cirkewwa area? Is Sargi a deep swimming fish?

placebo

Sargi is a deep swimming fish which dwells in depths of around 5-30mtrs.

pater noster is a very good method but that is when fishing from cliffs and deep waters underneath you!

when fishing sargi in shallow water use a pole rod with just a hook and a small splitshot. In mossy waters you can catch sargi in just 1 meter depth.

Sometimes the sargu also like to go for surface bait (bread). A good example of this is on Gozo channel ferry. Normally you see nice sized sargi go for afloat bread flakes mixing up with the kahli while waiting for the ferry to go from Malta to gozo or vice versa!
the fishing gods might have something for me tomorrow I'll be fishing

What if use a running float setup, I guess it could work as well. (as I dont have a pole rod yet) ;D

SPITEC

It might work the running float aswell but if you can use the running ledger method is better if you don't get stuck to the bottom too much and as placebo said mossy waters are the best to catch sargi and if you can manage fishing with a pole its some good fun too.
FISHING IS THE BEST HOBBY AND IT'S GREAT FOR RELAXING
