Seeing as I am having a problem bringing a pole across to Malta, (Ryanair want to charge me ?60 to bring it), I am tempted to leave it at home & buy one out there!
Any idea what a pole, say 8m would cost in Malta? or would it be more sensible to argue with Ryanair to bring my 13m across, I just resent their greed! ?60 for a tube weighig less than 1kg >:(

Hi Mate,

If you're coming down to Malta just for a holiday, I'd be glad to lend you one myself.

13 metres :o , I think if you dont look for anything extremely fancy with 20-30 euro you should by a reasonable one.

@ blueskip...

why not mail it over to a friend, or to me if you want, and collect it when you get here... it'll be cheaper, i bet it would cost less then 20 quid to do so.

I have looked at the mailing costs & the cheapest I can find is ?42 I will look for cheaper, but if I can buy one for ?30-?40 I will buy one out there & leave it with my son in Marsascala.
Thank you for the generous offer of the lend of one, but I would be worried I might break it or damage it, & I want to have one at my disposal every time I come over.
I might look at buying one mail order & having it sent direct, I have plenty of options & plenty of time to make a decision, but one thing is for sure, Ryanair can can stick their "cheap flights" up there **** in future, by the time you put all the "extras" on its the same as Air Malta, who give much better service!

blueskip when my wife came back from uk in january, she brought 3 poles back with her,(purchased of ebay) on british airways no charge.

BA much better than Ryanair for that sort of thing, Ryanair charge you for checking in, taking luggage, prority seating, debit card payment charge, & its impossible to contact them via e-mail, all contact is by premium charge telephone numbers! >: (by the time you add it all up its the same as Air Malta but without the in flight meal & the better service. My son booked it for us via the internet thinking he was doing us a favour, if you want anything doing,do it yourself in future! ;)

I agree with you, "no such thing as a free lunch", "if you want something good for nothing, you end up with something "goodfornothing", from now on its Air Malta even if we do have to make a long journey to Heathrow for the plane!
I have managed to find a courier called Parcelflight who is picking it up on Monday, & delivering it to Marsascala on Friday for ?31! :D I doubt I could buy a 13m Shakespeare Pole for less than that in Malta ;)

The only reason I have one that is 13m is because I won it in a raffle, ;D I will probably only use half of the thing, (unless I go bodybuilding before I come over), I have never used one in my life but at ?2 for the raffle tickets it was too good a bargain to pass up ::)

for a decent 9mtr pole you have to pay around the 200 euro.

i would get it delivered in Malta.
the fishing gods might have something for me tomorrow I'll be fishing

blueskip

For 32 Euro it arrives in Malta next Friday,  ;) for 200 Euro I would want the van that delivered it as well!  ::)
