What do you think?

Good idea IMHO, they are needed. Even though i don't think that they would be availble or cheap enough for commoners like me.

Its a good idea, there are provisions for both temporary and permanent berths available.  The only thing is that the minister has pointed out that this is strictly for the private industry to come up with the investment.  If the Private industry says no, then the idea will be shelved.  Which is a fair proposal.  I cannot see the MMA providing the necessary funds to set up this proposal, given that there are plans in hand to sell off the Marinas under goverment control anyway.

to organise a marina the poor seahorses habitat will be disturbed at least that's what we were always told when we wanted to extend the harbour at bugibba, but as always when there is BIG money involved nothing else matters!!!!
I am in favour of progress but not just for moneys sake, but first and foremost for the good living of all the Maltese Citizens

SPITEC

Better if they do it at Mistra because there is allready destroyed by the fishfarms but not at St.Paul's Bay area.

Better to pollute the areas that are already heavily polluted and not extend to new locations. It is amazing how berthing facilities foul the areas: antifouling, oil, petrol, diesel, organic waste, general waste etc.

what I would like to point out is.  What will happen to the boats that have an 'irmicc' in that area.  Obviously they either have to pay for the pontoon or else find an alternative location.

Just to point it out

suffrun

in view of melliha's point of view , I would immagine that those who have already an IRMICC and is registered with MMA should be given preference in chosing the new berthing place.

I think this is why the commotion in MMA regarding the moorings was leeding. We had the Federation of Ameteur fishing clubs AGM mostly dedicated to the mooring topic.
If things go as they are proposing, all boat owners will have a mooring available. The problem is.......at what price!!
Those who don't get into the expence, probably will have no other safe place to moor.
Can't wait to go fishing
