There are a few spots left for those who may be interested.....the event will most likely be held on the 26th July due to this weekends weather. Contact me if you're interested, indicating where your vessel is berthed and confirming that you have a VHF and GPS.

Description
Nature Trust is partnering with the Reserve Internationale Maritime en Mediterranee Occidentale (the RIMMO Association) to bring Operation DELPHIS to Malta. Project DELPHIS is a large-scale, Mediterranean-wide, nautical event aimed at gathering information on numbers of marine mammals (dolphins and whales) in the Mediterranean. The project involves recruiting boaters to participate in a single ALL DAY EVENT on 19th July whereby each boat is assigned an area to monitor dolphins and whales and collect sea water samples.

What we need from you is really easy and it will be a fun day out for everyone! The only equipment you need to have on board your boat is a GPS and VHF radio.

Each boat will be assigned specific coordinates and monitor a square area of 4 by 4 nautical miles.

The data collected by Malta on the day will be pooled in with data collected by other Mediterranean countries including France, Italy, Spain, Tunisia and Morocco, to name a few.

We will provide you with all the information, kits, and everything that you?ll need for the day. All appropriate safety procedures will be implemented including radio monitoring from the sea throughout the event. The event will only take place in Force 3 or less winds (in case of winds stronger than Force 3 the event will be postponed to the 26th July).

SHOULD YOU WISH TO BE PART OF THIS EVENT YOU WILL BE ASKED TO ATTEND A BRIEF INFORMATION SESSION (date, time and place to be advised later).

We look forward to your support.
