Hi spearos this is not a joke yesterday when me and stephen went spearfishing , and just anchored the boat and was going to dress up, we so a shark fin visible out of the water about 50 mts away from the boat .We could not tell what kind of shark was but the dorsal fin was about 1 foot long and dark grey in color , we saw it for about 10 sec , but we did not have time to take pic.

By the way we did not jump there.
If I give you a fish I'll be feeding you once, if i'll show you how I caught it I'll be feeding you for ever.

Maybe a shark maybe a dolphin.
I wouldnt be surprized if its a shark though fabrizio  ive been on that reef many times and have encountered this more than once

EmicMalta

would nt be surprised. Last weeks we saw lots of action on that reef where I think they where of albacore or jacks.

no lapsi boy i am sure it was a shark the fin was triangular even the way it was swimming , i ve seen dolphins several times , even inside birzebbugia port.

I think it must have been a great white because of the dark gray colour since blue sharks have a lighter fin colour (nearing blue). Tiger sharks also have a greyish fin colour but I don't think any sightings of tiger sharks have been reported in our waters.
When i'm not fishing, I'm bored):xD

A friend of mine was out for swordfish last night and hooked onto a 15ft PIXXIPLAMTU 10NM off the east coast.

Some 2 or 3 weeks ago a friend of mine told that 2 friends of his saw one at Lapsi too about half a mile out from the coast.  To tell the truth, I didn't bother very much because I tought that it may be a dolphin, but now I think I'll be more careful...

Guys be ware of you encounter one of them and do not try to play cool with them as if you shoot with a harpoon it is very hard to penetrate into its skin and it may turn at you.

For those who go near the fishfarms, to do some deepsea fishing please refrain from dangling ur feet in the water. I have seen it a couple of times and its not a very good idea if u want to cool off bring a bucket of water and cool off with it or in it. I also have the habit of pulling out fish with my hands i need to change that as its better to gaff or net a fish than have a tug-of-war with a shark.

With the increase of tuna closer to land, especially towards the filfla area, its not surprising that we started sighting sharks closer to land. Heard it lots of times even around fish pens that if you find tuna there will be sharks and dolphines as well.
Can't wait to go fishing

yes i am sure that before the authorities gave permits for tuna penning they made a survey as to the impact it will have on the maltese islands sic!, and I am sure that the sharks made sure the shark issue was put aside...........As soon as we had the first tuna penn I told my wife not to go far out when swimming. She and a group of ladies used to go out in the middle of the bay at bugibba, my wife now hardly swims except close to shore.
thats all Malta needs a shark attack........
We used to sight a fin but far out at sea now we are attracting them closer to shore with the tuna penns.
