New fishfinder

Hi,

I just bought a new Humminbird 586C and have used it for a couple of times. I'm still getting used to its settings but I'm noticing that while using it at bottom structure at depth of 200-300 feet, I still can't see fish at that depth. Can somebody explain how to interpretate the bottom structure? Am i doing something wrong? This keeps happening even though i change the sensitivity to its maximum and the Fish ID is on.
