from the times of malta online:

Today's wind whipped up rough seas in Birzebbuga and, to a lesser extent, Marsaxlokk. Two cabin cruisers broke their moorings in Birzebbuga. One ended up on the rocks and the other on the sandy beach. A smaller boat was smashed by the waves and quite a number of boats were quickly hauled ashore by their owners.

Same here in Marsascala rough seas so far 1 x 20ft Fishing boat broke off the the mooring and luckily the owner was at the promanade and managed to get on the vessel via a tender in time before it hit the shore. There is quite allot of boats still in the sea , hopefully nothing too dramatic in the morning. Taken mine out this morning , Looks like end of boat fishing season for me   Cry

with this wind even bugibba is ok, but that doesnt mean that bugibba is a good harbour. You have to see bugibba in NE winds

Nothing too drastic in Marsascala this morning only 3 tender boats were cut off from the moorings 2 ended up under the small bridge & 1 pulled out of the water by people watching yesterday evening. no real big damage was done to any of the 3 tenders.

Shanhook about 14 to 17 cut there mooring. Its the worst wind for B Bugia SE (Xlokk il vant) Even behind the break water there was slight damage to some boats .One broke free and   another slight damage. Its because the one behind it was "tight" on the moor (ma kelliex kalur) and due to the waves it hit the boat in front of it. Not much damage though. The one next to me (I pulled up 2 weeks before when there was the NE 7-8 Marked) outside the break water cut loose and was forced onto the breakwater .not much damage at least. There was damage to other boats ,I heard that one boat  had its z drive picked up apart (tal bobby). Not quite a safe haeven for the SE a B Bugia. Great care should be taken at this time of year.
