Season Ends in a few days, does this place a ban on surface longlines or can they still be used for shark or other catches?

148148 Come on lets not be so stupid!!!! It is illegal to fish for sharks and also no offense but i think your boat is not a good size for shark fishing either.
Boats should not have any surface longline gear onboard after the end of the season.

Yes but there are 35 species of sharks in Malta and only 4 of these species are protected so there are plenty to catch. In regards to long lining for them in Australia hundreds of 20 ft rickets travel from Indonesia into Australian waters each day to longline for them just for their fins, 5% of their body is worth 90% of their value. For the reason they cut their fins off and throw them back in live Australia hunts them down.

Thumbs up Australia! If there was any real justice they should cut their arms off at the shoulders...& then throw them to the sharks!
