digger I dont know what depth u intend to fish or jigg as the tanacom bull had jigging action. with 500 mtrs of 60 lbs u fish comfortably in 400 mtr of water with a moderate current. If u inted to fish deeper, well thats another story. Deeper means more line and probably bigger fish so apart from lenth u need thicher (heavier) line so less line on the reel.
see what u intend to fish first and then we can talk. Of course the bigger the better but one has to set limits and intentions.

Hope I didnt get u more confused

digger check with okuma-1976 he might have kristal fishing xl410 its better for bottom fishing but doesn t have jigging function. or another model of kristal fishing

Gooooooood, so now u have ur parameters, u know the depth, u need it for jigging now comes the part of the braid. Okuma has a good braid it is not very expensive compared with others. If u contact him he will explain what sizes he has as well as prices.
Regarding the instructions, usually maranuachi send the booklet in English, Its only the buttons will have Japanese writing on them. What I did was a copy of the panel and wrote them in English and stuck it to the panel with tape. Works fine for me.
I would only do this if i save a lot of moneys.
So first compare the price from Japan with the English price as well as the USA price. then Make up ur mind. IF u want to see how mine turned out u are more than willing to have a look. Reel is at Attard at the moment.

Hi Digger, How much exactly did you buy the Tancon Bull Daiwa 1000? Was is 630 Euros or less? Are you satisfied with this reel?
I have still to decide which reel to buy. Eiither the Tancon Bull Daiwa 1000 or Miya Epoch CX-4.

Links to both reels are below.

I would appreciate some feedback from other members on this and thanks.

I have the Miya CX4 and its quite good and heavy duty for its size. If you want something really heavy duty you have to go for kristal fishing (410 I think).

i have a friend who just bought the tanacom bull. its nice and it says that it can pull up 70 kg but he used it only 4 times and last time we went it started making a noise like a bearing is damaged. he has to take it to the shop and tell him.
You need a reel that at least it takes 1000 mts of 50 kg braided.

Kristal xl410 are the most heavy duty reels

if u compare the tancom with the miya, the Miya come out with flying colours. I have a miya cx4hp for this reason. The tanacom has jigging but the miya 6 also has jigging...but its more expensive than the tanacom bull.
if u need an electric reel in the tanacom bull or miya cx4 than i reccommend the Miya. if u need something stronger, more durable then as Moon and Busu said the Kristal Xl 410 is the one.....

Thankyou guys, as always you are most helpfull.
Some morer questions please.

1) I have a Rod that I use for Alongi. It is NGLR 36072C (20-40 LBS). Is this rod also good for deep water fishing (app. 500M) :-\ :-\

2) I can only attach the fishing rod to a rod holder onto the railing. Are the rod holders fixed to the railing robust enough for deep water fishing :-\

3) Do you connect the electric real to the main battery or it is wise to have an auxiliary one?  ???

Moonwalker

1 - it should be good but I prefere a little more action say 20lbs. Not much big bazug around!

2 - I made a custom S/S rod holder. The plastic rod holders are not robust enough for that weight.

3 - If you switch off engine for long periods I recommend an auxiliary battery. However you should not switch engine OFF-ON too often either as it will not have enough time to charge battery. Otherwise use a simple volt meter - if battery drops below 12V its time to start the engine.

Thanks Moonwalker for yor reply.
Any chance of posting a photo of your custom made rod holder to get an idea how to make it.  ;) ;) ;)
