I would like to know if someone knows from where I can buy the material that is used to make fishing pots/traps (nassi tal-vopi).

Any help is appreciated.  :)

Near the Mile end in Hamrun, there  is someone who makes all sorts of things from cane. So he might have that material.

Thanks for your reply but I already checked there and I didn't find what I was looking for. He doesn't have the sort of cane needed to construct the traps.

Anyone else knows from where I can buy the material?

Thanks everyone.

if you are at gnejna bay there is a man who makes them if you go at about 11.30 any day he should be there. he has a boathouse on your leftside when facing the sea. if you ask at the koisk they will tell who he is

Try Hamrun again but on the opposite side. A little further up ( towards the square) on the other side of the road ,opposite the pharmacy there is a lane that leads to a dead end in a large center courtyard. The lane is known locally as 'sqaq tal-qasab' and in the courtyard you will find many people manufacturing cane items. They do not just have bamboo but lots of different cane even types used for crafts in schools, maybe they have available material to construct a pod. I used to buy  different types of cane for making wicker baskets and other items at school ( which is a few years back) but the place is still well known for cane work.
