baghira

Today was a day to forget for all the pain I have felt.
After a year of trouble with ears and sinuses, today was the climax.
On ascent my left ear did not equalize, and the eardrum was bulging out. I felt terrible pain and went to shore, after trying all sort of measures to beat the pain, Half of my face went numb, and I could not feel and control my tongue, lips, eye cover etc.
I was in panic, and asking what the hell happened to me.
I was on my own in pain and panic, but at surface, so I started swimming back as fast as I could.
After half an hour I arrived, and started feeling the senses comming back in my face. This was a very good sign cause I started thinking for the worse.
Hurried up home and my she took me to hospital to ease the eardrum pain.
Ended up that the only solution was panadols and bed. (and obvoiusly no spear).
I have to add that i was very cautious today and did not dive deep at all, in fact two of my buddies were in the water but I did not join them and decided to stick to shore (shallows).
The day started good, catching two nice sawrell imperjal, 1 octo, and 1 seabream from the shallow, but ended veryyyybad.
Ear Pain aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

thats really bad and I suggest not to dive at the moment. Did the doctors told you what was the problem? for sure there was a reverse blockage but you have to see what had caused it. Normally it happens to us when we have sinus. When have problems with ears doesn t make different diving in shallow and diving deep, cos even diving 2 mtr one have to compensate.

Did you started feeling it prom the first dives? did you ate butter before you dive?

ps: jaqaw kontu paradise bay ax rajt 2 divers fuq il blat jficcu lil xi hadt imma ma damux hafna

I suggest that you visit an ENT consultant to have professional opinion. I do not wont to alarm you but it seems that a facial nerve might have been involved since, and according to your account, half of your face went numb.

All this is caused due to a shitty allergy that I have. Its a normal chronic allergy to dust etc. that half of the population has, and during daytime i have no problems at all, beside feeling a bit clogged sometimes. I have been using nasal steroids for this allergy years now and I never had such problems.

During the last year I could feel this ear (esutachian tube disfunction) often, and I have been thousand times to doctors, and hundreds to ENT Specialist, and I tried all sort of medications, beleive me even steroid injections  (the latter used to help me a lot but have many side effects).

To add to all 2 months ago I felt my sinuses hurting and i taught a common cold. Waited and went to the sea again, and i could not equalise, after some tries i succeded, but on the way up this time the sinuses did exactly as my ears. Sometimes I felt as if somtehing bursts and i spitted mucus but thick as chewing gum and dark brown greenish (something I never seen) and I went to hospital since that I could feel numb my tooth.

I tried to go to the sea after taking for 2 weeks clarinase, Zinat, Mucolitic, Xyloposs, Panadol Sinus, Zithromax, beconase, and also Xyzal.
When I taught all was over, I went to sea again but my sinus was the same and I was spitting red mucus with blood. Situation is still the same today and that is what happened yesterday.

I better stop for a while although I do not know how to suceed, but end of this Month I will undergo surgery to my sinuses and nose, and hope this is the solution for my problem. The problem is that my ENT (whom is a diver) is a bit sceptic if my trouble would end with this, since that he finds my problem very unusuall..

My all this be over in a month time.

Ear Pain aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

good luck for your op wishing you a full recovery for your problem

Yep emic.... That's exact reversed air block...
But no I did not eat butter.
The first couple of dives are ok usually, but when I do this repeatedly, after 1 hour I could feel a bit harder to equalise and many noises, and the more I stay the worse it gets. The inflammation causes swellling which blocks.

We were at popeye village bro. and the sea was very nice.

As ggantno1 said, if it was at 20 meters the problem would have been worse since that you compansate various times to go down, and these would reflect the amount of air that has to escape from the ear on the way up.
